John Robert Hill, also known as Boonk Gang, went viral on Instagram for posting videos of himself stealing from fast food restaurants, barber shops, and random people off the streets. Hill gets millions of views for his version of “art”. Is committing burglary socially acceptable when someone is doing it for views or as a joke? Boonk gang has gained millions of viewers and popularity, but if someone without the platform of Hill commits the same act, it is frowned upon. Hill has been convicted for his crimes, but still continues to create videos because of the demand of his followers. Could committing a crime actually be considered comedy? Although the videos may seem reckless and obnoxious, people still tend to watch. What is the fine line between a criminal offense and a “savage” being able to do whatever he wants?
