Performance Artist Arrested For Public Indecency

July 27, 2016

Performance art often skirts the line between criminal and art and Milo Moiré was a little too much on the criminal side and was arrested by the London police for public indecency. Moiré's newest work, Mirror Box, allowed the public to touch her breast and vagina in this mirror box in the public. The point she wants to make with this work was the reversal of roles the mirror has on the audience who is turned the focus when they see themselves reflected in the mirrors. The provocative nature of this display attracted crowds to both observe and experience. Ultimately, the police deemed this not art and really a criminal act.
