Combining Forensic Art and Technology

A recent push for the use of technology has enabled a crossover between art and crime. A FaceSketchID system has been created at Michigan State University that scans forensic sketches and juxtaposes them with current mug shots in the police database. It is said to become an asset in cases where the victims testimony and description of the criminal is the only evidence. The forensic drawings would not be considered traditional art, but could their interaction with technology form a relational model of art? Will this FaceSketchID be helpful when searching for criminals or is there a chance the data will be inaccurate?
