The Simpsons- Apu

On April 2017, The Simpsons had an episode that had much controversy with one of their main characters, Apu, the Kwik-E-Mart owner. In the episode, Marge is determined to rewrite her favorite childhood book since it is filled with stereotypes. She then starts to read the books to Lisa and realized the book has no interesting points. Marge then says “What am I supposed to do?” to which Lisa replies as she faces the viewer, “It’s hard to say. Something that started decades ago and was applauded and inoffensive is now politically incorrect. What can you do?” She then turns around to see a photograph of Apu by her bed with inscribed lettering with Bart Simpson’s catchphrase “Don’t have a cow”, which means to relax. “Some things will be dealt with at a later date,” Marge promises. “If at all,” Lisa deadpans. Hari Kondabolu, an American stand-up comedian, actor, and film maker was one of the first people to comment on the situation. He thought the situation was sad and a jab to what many people think of as progress.
